Pomors are Russian trappers from the North that were settling on Svalbard in XVII-XVIII centuries. The indoor design of the hostel Pomor rooms is made in pomor traditions. Furniture is made of the northern pine. There are also homespun floor-clothes, patchwork quilts, woolen curtains, and pomor talismans - "Birds of Happiness" - all were brought from the Russian North. There are also driftwood furniture elements (the wood that was driven ashore by the sea).
The building itself was constructed and put into operation as a residence in the beginning of the 1960s. Major structural renovations were completed in 2014-2015.
TWIN rooms are with two separate beds and they are available for either 2-person or 1-person (SINGLE) accommodation. TWIN and SINGLE types of accommodation are at the same price.
EAT & DRINK
On each floor, there is a kitchen equipped with refrigerators, a cooktop, microwave oven, and washing section.

For you, there are also a brewery, restaurant and bar Krasniy Medved, restaurant Rijpsburg and Icebreaker Bar Krasin.
The safety of our guests is always of the highest priority for us, that is why within the preventative measures of the infection control due to the current situation regarding COVID-19, the shared kitchen in the hostel Pomor is not available. For the same reason, products and household shops are not available either.
For the same reason, during the period of COVID-19, grocery shop and canteen are available only for residents of Svalbard.
On the 1st floor, there is a laundry room with washing and drying machines and a separate dry room for your equipment.
