Experience fishing in the Arctic on Svalbard, just 1000 km from the North Pole! This is probably the only place where you can see the wealth of the ocean that it had owned before modern commercial fishing grew all over the world. Only seagulls will be your main competitors in fishing.
We fish cod, haddock, and wolffish. The average weight is between 2-3 and 9-10 kg per fish. Regularly we get trophy fish under 20-23 kg. The average catch is 200 kg per 3 persons, in 3 hours.
There is no need to have experience as anyone can get a catch during the fishing season. Our guides and captains will find perfect points that are rich with fish and will explain how to handle all the fishing equipment.
But it is not the catch which is important in Arctic fishing. The main thing is that you unite with the place, feel the fjord waves beating the boat, breathe in the air from the top of the planet, and compete with the heavy fish. After breathing out and warming yourself up you will taste dishes made of fresh-caught fish in the restaurant Rijpsburg.
FISH WE CATCH
Migratory Arctic char spawns in the Linné lake. It goes into the sea for the weight gain. Our standard catch is under 5 kg.
It is not a regular case that we catch a wolffish. But sometimes, we get 2 or 3 fish from 4 to 15 kg. There are two types: spotted and Atlantic (stripy) wolffish.
There is a great number of cod in the fjords of Svalbard. The standard catch is between 5 and 10 kg, but at times we get trophies that are over 20 kg.
Haddock is our often catch. The size can be under 10 kg.

Arctic char fishing
While the sea fishing on Svalbard is endless areas, competing with the giant cod and deep water, the Arctic char fishing will give absolutely different emotions.
Arctic char fishing is in the Linné lake with cristal water, surrounded by mountains and small river that flows into the Greenland sea. It's all about meditative walking in search of best fishing places, decisions on what chum will be the best to choose, happiness to catch precious fish and in the end - joy of taking a photo with the Arctic char in a place located 1000 km from the North Pole.
The Arctic char fishing is under the principle "to catch and let it go". It gives a chance to enjoy the fishing process and save the fish population in the lake.
