PORT OF BARENTSBURG
info for cruise ships

Port of Barentsburg is located on the east side of Grønfjord, in the picturesque and calm area. It is a tourist harbor with a passenger pier and floating pontoon, and also there are cargo and coal piers. We can host calls of ships and boats from expedition cruise ships to small vessels.

There are specific managers assisting cruise ships or small vessels, so for fruitful and proper communication, please kindly forward your call request directly to the specialist.

For expedition cruise ships, the manager's contact info is provided below.

The port is located close to the Barentsburg city center and divided on touristic, cargo, and coal mining.

Touristic harbor (H1)
Is an 81-meter-long quay with minimum depth at the low tide of 7 meters on the north side. The pier is accessible all year round under normal ice conditions.

The touristic harbor is accessible for cruise and expeditions ships, daily tour boats, and other passenger boats. Ships up to 120-140 meters long can request docking at touristic harbor H1.

We kindly ask you to contact us to schedule the arrival and departure time.

Please be advised that there are 267 stairs to walk up from the harbor to the city. We organize transfers from the harbor to the city.

Tender piers/Floating pontoons

We have 2 floating pontoons in Barentsburg, each has a total length of 20 meters and the minimum depth at the low tide of 2,4 meters at the inner side. They can be used from either side by small vessels, yachts, and tender boats from cruise ships when no space available at the touristic harbor or the ship does not meet the criteria for docking at the touristic harbor H1.

We kindly ask you to contact us to schedule the arrival and departure time.

Please be advised that there are 267 stairs to walk up from the harbor to the city. We organize transfers from the harbor to the city.

Coal mining harbor is 104 meters long-quay that includes the cargo harbor in it with the minimum depth at the low tide of 12 meters. The coal mining harbor can be used for docking for big cruise and expedition ships when touristic harbor H1 does not meet the criteria for docking.

Port fees: Guests and passengers pay a passenger fee for use of the tourist pier.

Harbor H1 modernization

An inspection of our harbor in 2017, showed that the load carrying structures are in excellent conditions. We made a decision to change the concrete slabs. All works will be done in 2 steps: 2018, and 2019. In 2019 we will put new light towers in the harbor and will continue working on deepening the harbor side.

Fleet we work:
